Premier Institutions Central Institute Of Plastic Engineering and Technology- Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology is at Guindy, Chennai. It is an autonomous institute under the Department of Chemical and Petro Chemicals, Ministry of Petroleum and Chemicals, Government of India established in 1968 and assisted by UNDF. The Institute has a full-fledges design sing, tool room, processing division and testing centre that caters to the plastics industries through managerial and supervisory manpower training, testing, consultancy, advisory and development services. The Institute offers highly specialised and practical oriented training of international standards in the fields of plastics technology, engineering and testing. The courses are particularly designed to ensure exposure of candidates to the practical problems involved in the relevant areas of study. to meet the growing need of plastics conversion industry, the Institute is dispersing the activities through its Regional Extensions Centres at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mysore, Patna, Goa and Imphal. CIPET has now gone for modernisation through Computer Aided facilities and applications oriented research and developmental programmes.
