Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC),
a premier centre of technical education,
was eastablished in the academic year 1980-81 by the Prabandhak
Committee Gurudwara, Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar. GNDEC
has become a reputed educational institute in India. All the
courses offered by the college are affiliated to the University
of Gulbarga and approved by the All India Council for Technical
Education (AICTE), New Delhi,vide letter F.No.2-15/B-III/RC/B/93/14282

Guru
Nanak Dev Engineering College,
a premier centre of technical education, was established in
the academic year 1980-81 by the Prabandhak Committee Gurudwara,
Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar. Initially the college was affiliated
to Karnataka University, Dharwad. However when Gulbarga University
was created, it came under the jurisdiction of Gulbarga University,
Gulbarga.
The
college is situated on Bidar-Mailur road, at about 3 km away
from main Bidar Town. The college has picturesque location and
commands lovely views of low lands towards the south and east.
The college academic buildings, hostels, playground and garden
own a landscape of 20 acres.
The
institution has fully come into the shape from 121 students
at the beginning to 1200 students at present. The college started
with only three disciplines and today, offers courses in seven
disciplines viz., Computer Science, Electronics & Communication,
Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Industrial
& Production and Automobile Engineering leading to Bachelor's
Degree.
The
college has a phase development and has acquired ample facilities
and infrastructure in the form of well equipped laboratories,
workshops, well established library and hostel accommodation
to meet the students requirements.
LIBRARY
The
college library is provided with spacious accommodation and
good furniture. It is enriched by about 12,000 volumes. Apart
from 10 Indian Technical Journals, 8 Foreign Journals are subscribed
by the library. A reading room is also provided in the library
in which all leading news papers and magazines are available.The

MEDICAL
FACILITIES
Free medical consultation facility is available to the students
in Guru Nanak hospital, Bidar run by the foundations.
LABORATORIES
All the departments have well equipped laboratories with
sophisticated equipment in all the specialized areas of study,
required for the under graduate level and the students are well
trained with adequate exposures all practical applications.
Latest modern equipment need for the study are made available
in all the laboratories to provide expert training to the students
on latest technology.
CAREER
GUIDANCE CELL
A
Career Guidance Cell and Students Welfare Office have been set
up in the college. These are helping students in finding
suitable opportunities and places for industrial training and
apprenticeship and keep them abreast of upto date technical
knowledge.
HOSTEL
The
college provides Hostel accommodation to students in the college
campus in a "5 - storied" building consisting of three blocks.
The total capacity of hostel buildings to accommodate students
is 700. Hostels are provided with mess run on no profit- no loss
basis. Separate halls are provided in the hostels for indoor games
and recreational facilities.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORTS
The
college places special emphasis and encourages students to participate
in games and sports activities. Such activities form the integral
part of the training in the development of personality of students
and is well realized by the management.
A number of playgrounds are available within its spacious campus
to cater to the needs of the students. Indoor game facilities
have also been furnished within college campus.
The college participates in various events at University, State
and National levels and has bagged many honors.
ISTE CHAPTER
ISTE Chapter was introduced in the college to serve the causes
of Technical Education in the year 1991. Technical activities
like seminars, short term courses, expert lectures etc. are organized
in the interest of staff and students. The chapter has been awarded
a special incentive and placed at 11th position, among the 250
ISTE Chapters throughout the country, for its activities.
National Cadet Corps
The
college has a NCC sub unit attached to No 3 Kar Air Squadron.
The college NCC unit has bagged many honors for its outstanding
activities. Five NCC Camps were organized at different parts
of the state and the college NCC unit stood first in the kit
layout and cultural programme in the Jalahalli Camp.
TRAINING & PLACEMENT CELL
This section was established in the year 1984 for imparting
industrial training and conducting placement activities for
the third and final year students.
