FACULTY
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES
S.I.T.
is giving utmost importance for the development of teaching
faculty to improve their communication skills and keep them
abreast with the latest developments in their fields of specialisation,
so that their overall effectiveness is enhanced. Several
steps have been taken to meet these challenging needs:
1. At the beginning of each semester, A SUBJECT WORKSHOP is
conducted for a period of one week in each department. The
topics are chosen depending on the need and current status of
development, and all the faculty of the department participate
in the workshop. Experts are invited from other institutions
and R&D laboratories to deliver guest lectures.
2. In addition, teaching faculty are encouraged to participate
in MICRO TEACHING SESSIONS in which the lectures are video -
recorded and replayed to study individual performance while
teaching and remove deficiencies, if any.
3. Besides, a student appraisal system is existing in which
various important factors such as subject coverage, expression,
lesson planning ability to interact with students etc., are
assessed and feed back collected to help improve the overall
performance of the teaching staff.
The
titles of subject workshops conducted by each department till
date are given in the respective departmental details.
