To become electronics engineer one needs to hold a degree in electronics engineering or must have passed the AMIE (Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers) in electronics and telecommunication. Refer to AICTE Approved Electronics and Communication Engineering Colleges in India Academic Programme The focus in the study programme is on understanding electronic networks and devices, electromagnetic field theory, computer fundamentals, as also their protection, and communication and control systems. Job Opportunities An electronics engineer can be employed in the public and private sector industries and organizations such as the Indian Telephone Industries, MTNL, National Physical Laboratories, AIR, Civil aviation, and the police wireless departments. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Founded in 1953, as the Institution of Telecommunication Engineers, it is considered as a national apex body involved in furthering the cause of development in Electronics, Telecommunication, Computer Engineering and allied disciplines. At present, it conducts two examinations: (1) Diploma level examination in two disciplines (Part A-Electronics and Telecommunication, and Part B-Computer Science and Engineering) leading to Dip IETE (2) Graduate level examination also in two disciplines (Part A-Electronics and Telecommunication, and Part B-Computer Science and Engineering) leading to the Associate Membership (AMIETE).
