Methodology
Written Tests:
The preparation should start at least one year in
advance. Under-graduates can start preparation during
final year. First of all proper study material should
be collected. Study material should include the following:
· Latest guide on GMAT or MBA.
· Latest book on General Knowledge.
· Good book on English Grammar.
· Good magazines like India Today, etc.
· Good books on Mathematics of CBSE standard.
· Newspapers.
A realistic time plan of study based on your current
activities is required to be prepared and followed
carefully and meticulously. Exhaustive practice on
mathematical portion of the test is required.
There are number of guides written by various eminent
authors available in the market for preparation for
MBA written test. AIMATS and ATS have also published
their official guides, viz., MAT Guide and GMAT Guide
respectively.
These guides are quite useful and easily available
at their offices also. Whereas difficulty level of
CAT is more than that in MAT and G. INDOMAT as time
for CAT is always at premium. Therefore, there is
a greater need of practice in all three subjects of
CAT.
It is the mathematical portions of the test, which
take maximum time during the test. Hence, there is
a greater need of more practice in this particular
subject in order to cater for the revision time in
the examination hall.
There is no short cut to continuous study in the direction.
In fact, a culture needs to be developed right after
10+2 to enhance general knowledge among students in
almost all spheres of activities at national and international
Levels.
Also a regular reading habit is required to be developed
particularly English magazines and newspapers along
with other books of interest in English.
Group Discussion:
This practice of discussion in a group can be carried
out in a group of your sincere friends. Subjects of
current topical interest can be listed and material
collected through various books available in the market
and newspaper cuttings over a period of at least few
months. Listening to group discussions on radio and
TV on various current topics can be of great help.
Candidates have to be good listeners to participate
in-group discussion. Lot of self-restraint has to
be exercised during group discussion in the face of
provocation. As far as possible one should never try
to interrupt. Candidates should try to be logical
with facts and figures wherever required.
Interview:
Candidates should prepare well in advance for the
interview. They should list out various tricky questions
with appropriate answers. For example, why you want
to join management programme. How is MBA degree or
Diploma going to help you?
One is required to be honest, sincere and fluent in
his reply. There is no need of manipulation in your
reply.
