Under the New Pattern Exam from 2000 onwards, the Joint Entrance Exam is being held in two stages-Screening Test in the first week of January and Main Examination in the month of May. Detailed instructions and application forms can be had from the Chairman, Admission Committee, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi-110016 or other institutes on notification in August on payment of requisite amount by bank draft or postal order.

Age: 

A candidate must be between 16-21 years on the 1st October of the year of examination.

Educational Qualifications: 

A candidate should have passed the final examination of 10+2 system or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Examination Subjects: 

· Physics
· Chemistry 
· Mathematics

The screening Test is objective type and the Main Examination is essay type questions.
