Competitive Examinations in Goa

We have discussed important competitive exams in Goa in the fields of Medical, Management and Engineering. These competitive Exams are held on all India basis, but there is seat preference for domicile students of Goa. Below are given details for eligibility, application procedure and selection procedure for respective competitive exam. These Goa competitive exams cover Universities in Goa, Medical colleges in Goa, Engineering colleges in Goa and Management colleges in Goa.

Management Exam in GOA

Reservation Goa University graduates 80% Others 20% foreign students 3 seats (Additional).

Eligibility Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Final year student may apply.

Application procedure Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the Deptt on cash payment of Rs. 125 or through bank draft in favour of Registrar, Goa University payable at State Bank of India, Bambolim Branch, if required by post. Completed application should reach the department by the notified date.

Selection Management Aptitude Test (MAT) by All India Management Association conducted at various centres in the country usually in December. Foreign students are required to produce ‘No Objection Certificate" from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi.

Fees Rs. 15,000 per annum.

Hostel Facilities available. Boarding Rs. 600-700 pm. Lodging Rs. 1,800 per annum.

Scholarships Loan/merit/need-cum/merit scholarships, fee concession etc.

Facilities Computer laboratory, well-equipped library, Audio-visual and reprographic facilities.

General Candidates are required to undergo practical training of 8 weeks in industry any also participate in case discussions, seminars, tutorials, project work etc.

Engineering Exam in GOA

CENTRALISED ADMISSION PROCESS has been framed for admission to BE/BArch courses in (I) Goa College of Engineering, Goa; (ii) padre Conceicao College of Engineering , Verna; and (iii) Goa College of Architecture, Goa.


COMMON DETAILS are given hereunder:

Allocation of Seats Free Seats All seats in Goa College of Engineering; Goa College of Architecture and 50% seats in Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna. Payment Seats 50% seats in padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna.

Reservations SC 2% ST 0,5% OBC 15% Children of Freedom Fighters 1% Physically Handicapped candidates 3% Children of Central & Defence Personnel/Para-Military Forces/State Government and Public/Private Sector Employees 6% Children of Ex-servicemen 1% NRIs 5% States not having facilities for Architecture Education 3 seats.

Domicile Candidates must have resided in the State of Goa continuously for 10 years (5 years for those whose either of the parents/grand parents are born in Goa). Exceptions Children of employees of Central Governments/Public Sector Undertakings serving in the State for two years; or employees of Goa State Government/Undertakings or persons residing in the State of Goa for the purpose of occupation/employment for a period of 5 years, provided the candidate has passed the qualifying exam from schools/colleges in the State of Goa.

Eligibility HSC (Std XII) exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim or its equivalent exam with Eng., Phy, Chem and Maths securing 60% marks (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) in the subject of Phy, Chem and Maths taken together at one and the same sitting. Candidates should be physically fit.

Application Procedure Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the Engineering Colleges/ directorate of Technical Education, Alto-Porvorim, Bardez-Goa 403521 on payment of Rs. 200. Completed application should reach the Directorate by the notified date.

Selection Merit determined non-the basis of total marks obtained in qualifying exam. Weightage is allowed to candidates who have participated in sports and NCC. Candidates applying for B Arch courses are also required to appear in the aptitude test. Their merit is determined on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying exam and aptitude test.

Medical Exam in GOA

STATE LEVEL ADMISSION is made for MBBS/BDS/BPharm courses at Goa Medical College; Goa Dental College & Hospital; Goa College of Pharmacy.

COMMON DETAILS are given hereunder:


Admission is open to residents of Goa for 10 yrs (5 yrs for candidates whose parents are of Goa origin) they should have passed the qualifying exam from Goa. Exemption: Children of regular State/Central Govt/Defence employees.

Reservations All India seats 15% SC 2% ST 0.5% OBC 15% Freedom Fighters 1% Physically Handicapped 3% CSP 6% Ex-Servicemen 1% NRIs 1 seat.

Eligibility Age 17 yrs on December 31 of the year of admission. Academic qualification 12 yrs Senior Secondary with English and secured not less than 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST and OBC candidates) in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at one and the same sitting. Candidates should be medically fit..

Application Procedure Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the colleges on cash payment of Rs. 200. Completed applications should reach the office of the Directorate of Technical Education, Alto-Porvorim, Bardez, Goa 403521 by the notified date.

Selection Merit in the qualifying exam in the subjects of Phy, Chem and Biol. In case of tie, candidates securing more marks in Biol are placed higher. List of selected candidates is notified in colleges/local dailies.

Fees Tuition fee Rs. 5000. NRI seats US $ 50,000 for complete course.

Bond Candidates admitted to MBBS/BDS course are required to execute a bond to serve the state government for a period of 5 years.
