We have discussed
important competitive exams in Tamilnadu in the fields of Medical, Management
and Engineering. These competitive Exams are held on all India basis,
but there is seat preference for domicile students of Tamilnadu. Below
are given details for eligibility, application procedure and selection
procedure for respective competitive exam. These Tamilnadu competitive
exams cover Universities in Tamilnadu,

colleges in Tamilnadu, Engineering

Management
Exam in TAMILNADU
For
Admission to MBA (Regular and Part-time) course in Tamilnadu management
Institutions including University Departments, candidates are required
to apply separately to the institute (s) of their choice after issue of
notification. However, eligibility and selection procedures are similar
in all the institutions
COMMON
DETAILS are given hereunder.
Eligibility MBA Bachelor’s with 50% aggregate marks (pass marks
for SC/ST candidates) Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are
also eligible. MBA (PT) Second class Bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience.
Preference is given to sponsored candidates.
Selection Entrance test, group discussion and interview by the
respective university/institute. The test broadly contains questions on
reading comprehension, numerical ability, data interpretation, application
and judgement ability.
Engineering
Exam in TAMILNADU
TAMILNADU
PROFESSIONAL COURSES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (TNPCEE) is
conducted by Anna University for admission to (I) BE/BTech/BArch courses
of Anna University;
(ii) BE/BTech/BE (Sandwich)/B Arch couses in the Government Government
Aided and Private Engineering colleges under the purview of the Directorate
of Technical Education and affiliated to the Universities of Bharathiar,
Bharathidasan, Madras, Madurai Kamaraj, manonmaniam Sundaranar, Periyar
(including Home State quota of Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirapalli);
and (iii) BE (Agriculture) and BTech (Food Process Engineering) courses
of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.
Candidates
are admission to professional courses are required to
(i) appear for the entrance examination; and
(ii) apply to the respective authorrities for Admission.
(Candidates are advised to look out for separate announcements for admission
issued by the respective admitting authorities).
TNPCEE DETAILS are given hereunder:
Allocation

Tamil
Nadu Candidates Application domiciled in Tamilnadu or candidates
who have passed IX, X and HSC examination in the State of Tamilnadu.
Exceptions (I) Children of employees of Central Government/Public Sector/Govt.
recognised institutions serving in the State for 5 yrs.
Reservations
(Govt. Colleges, RECs, Aided & Private Colleges) SC/ST/OBC/PH/Freedom
Fighters, Defence personnel. Children of : Servicemen/Ex-servicemen,
Civil personnel, BSF, CRPF, children born out of Inter-caste marriage,
Tamil reptriates from Maynmar and Srilanka, Widows, Orphans, Physically
handicapped, NCC, sports persons, Other States nominees, Candidates
of Tamil origin from Andaman and Nicobar Admn, Candidates of Tamil origin
from Eastern countries, Candidates from Kerala/Karnataka under reciprocal

Eligibility
Age Below 21 yrs as on 1st July (Below 24 yrs for Tamilian
Repatriates from Myanmar and Srilanka and SC/ST candidates).
Academic qualification 12 yrs HSC (Academic/Vocational) or
equivalent with Phy, Chemistry and Maths/vocational subjects securing
60% marks in each subject and 70% aggregate marks. Diploma holders of
State Board of Mechanical Education securing 60-70 % marks are also
eligible. In case of SC/ST candidates a mere pass may be sufficient.
Candidates should be medically fit.
Application
Procedure Application form for TNPCEE can be obtained in person
from the engineering colleges/other colleges/institutions/Head Post
Offices of Tamilnadu as notified on payment of Rs.105 in cash or Rs.100
by DD in favour of the Registrar, Anna University, Chennai. Application
form can also be obtained by post on payment of Rs. 130 through bank
draft alongwith a self- addressed slip of 12x8 cm size from the Secretary,
Tamilnadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination, Anna University,
Chennai 600025. Completed should reach the Secretary, TNPCEE, Anna University
by the notified date.
Selection Selection is made on the basis of marks obtained
in qualifying exam/TNPCEE. TNPCEE is conducted in Physical Sciences
(Physic & Chemistry) and Maths at various centres in the State.
Candidates applying for admission to B Arch course are also required
to appear for an aptitude test. TNPCEE papers for last years can be
obtained from Anna University on payments of Rs. 20 for each subject.
Admission Candidates who appear in TNPCEE are required to apply
separately for admission after TNPCEE result. Application form and prospectus
can be obtained from the notified colleges/Anna university on payment
of Rs. 100/250 or as notified. Completed applications should reach the
Dean (Engineering Admission), Anna University, Chennai 600025 by the
notified date.

Medical
Exam in TAMILNADU
TAMIL
NADU PROFESSIONAL COURSES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (TNPCEE) is conducted
by Anna University, Chennai for admission to all professional courses
in Tamil Nadu Including MBBS, BDS, BPharm, BPT/BOT, BSc (Nursing)
courses for all ‘Free seats and Payment Seats’ in Government, Government
Aided and private medical colleges. Exemption Govt of India Nominees,
Diploma Holders for BPharm course, NRIs candidates.
Annamalai
university, Annamalainagar and Christian medical College, Vellore,
Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai (Deemed
University) have framed separate entrance test/admission rules which
may be referred at appropriate place.
COMMON
DETAILS are given hereunder:

10. Seats are available for Government of India nominees (BPharm 3)
and Government of Pondicherry nominees (BPharm 1).
Eligibility Age 17 year of admission. Academic qualification
MBBS/BDS 12 yrs Hr Sec (Academic) exam of Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary
State Board or equivalent with Phy, Chem, Biol (Zool & Bot) taken
together securing 60% marks in each subject and 70% (140 out of 200)
aggregate marks in first appearance. BC/SC & ST candidates securing
55-60%/40% marks in each Sc subject are also eligible for admission.
BPharm 12 yrs Hr Sec with Phy, Chem and Biol (Zool & Bot) taken
together securing 50%aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST). BPharm holders
are eligible for BPharm course. BSc (Nursing) BPT/BOT 12 yr He Sec
exam with Phy, Chem and Biol (Zool & Bot) takes together. Candidates
should be medically fit. (Candidates both male and female seeking
admission to BSc (Nursing) course should be unmarried. The ratio between
men and women is 1:10 respectively in the selection of candidates).
Application Procedure (TNPCEE) Application form can be obtained
in person from the notified colleges on payment of Rs.80 through bank
draft in favour of Registrar, Anna University payable at Chennai.
The form can also be obtained by post from the Secretary, Tamil Nadu
Professional Courses Entrance Examinations, Anna University, Chennai
600025 on payment of Rs. 90 through bank draft alongwith a self-addressed
slip of 12*8 CM SIZE Completed applications with registration fee
of Rs.180 should reach the TNPCEE by the notified date. (ADMISSION)
Prospectus and application forms for admission can be obtained from
the notified medical colleges in the State on payment of Rs. 300/250
through bank draft in favour of the Director of Medical Education,
Chennai on State Bank of India. Completed application should reach
the Secretary, (Selection Committee), Kilpauk Medical College Hospital
Campus, Chennai 600010 by the notified date. The admission notification
is issued sometime in April.
Selection On merit on the basis of marks obtained in Science
subjects (PCB) at the qualifying exam reduced to the base of 200 marks
and the marks obtained for the maximum of 100 marks in entrance exam
conducted by Anna University. The test is conducted at 21 centres
in Tamil Nadu. The questions are of qualifying exam standard. The
list of the selected candidates is notified at the Office of the Selection
Committee/local dailies.
