COMBINED
ADMISSION TEST (CAT) is conducted for preparation of merit list for
admission to about 4700 seats (Free and Payment categories) in the Management
courses (Full time and Part-time) (MBA, PGDBA, MIBM, MMEM, etc), MCA and
Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) being run in the Universities, affiliated
colleges and private institutions in the State of Uttar Pradesh . (Aligarh
Muslim University, Aligarh; Banaras Hindu University, Varansasi; Dayalbagh
Educational Institute, Agra; Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University;
& Technology, Pantnagar and University of Roorkee, Roorkee conduct
their own admission test). The test is conducted at various centres in
UP and almost at all capitals of other States except North East States
and Jammu & Kashmir. During 1998, M J P Rohilkhand University conducted
the combined admission test.

Eligibility
Management Courses (Full Time) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with
50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC). Candidates appearing in final year
degree exam can also apply. Management Courses (Part-time) Bachelor’s
degree with 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC) with 3 years experience.
Application
Procedure Information brochure (containing full detail) alongwith
application form can be obtained from the Office of the Controller (UPMCAT),
IASE Bhavan, M J P Rohilkhand University, Bareilly 243006 or as notified
on cash payment or RS 750 (this includes test fee). It can also be obtained
on cash payment of Rs. 760 from the notified branches of Union Officer,
M J P Rohilkhand University payable at Bareilly. The form can also be
obtained by post on remitting a bank draft of Rs. 775 alongwith an envelope
containing a self-addressed slip from the Controller (UPMCAT), IASE Bhavan,
M J P Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. Completed application should reach
the Convener University by the notified date.
Selection
Entrance test containing multiple choice questions to judge quantitative
analytical ability, English comprehension, general and business awareness,
current affairs, career aptitude, etc. Shortlisted candidates are called
for group discussion and interview.

Exam in UTTAR PRADESH
UTTAR
PRADESH STATE ENGINEERING ADMISSION TEST (UPSEAT) is
conducted by Institute of Engineering & Technology, Sitapur Road,
Lucknow 226021 or as notified for admission to BE/BTech/BTech (Agril Engg)/BArch
courses offered at the Government/university/private Engineering and Technological
institutions of Uttar Pradesh and U P State quota seats at all Regional
Engineering Colleges in the country.
Separate
admission rules have been framed by Zakir Husain College of Engineering
& Technology (AMU); Dayalbagh Education Institute, Agra; University
of Roorkee; Institute of Engineering & Tech. MJP Rohilkhand University,
Bareilly and Institute of Technology, BHU, Varanasi, Institute of Engineering
& Technology, C s J M University, Kanpur, Institute of Engineering
& Tech, Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. (Refer detail under each Institute).
COMMON DETAILS are given hereunder:
Allocation of Seats Free Seats All seats in Government/University
engineering colleges and 50% seats in private engineering colleges. Payment
Seats 50% seats (including 5% f or foreign national/NRIs ) in private
engineering colleges.
Admission
is open to candidates who have passed the qualifying exam from
the State. Exceptions Candidates whose parents are domicile of UP but
have passed the qualifying exam from the institutions located outside
the State are also eligible except for Regional Engineering Colleges.
Selection of candidates ON ALL INDIA BASIS.
(a) Seats for B Tech (Chemical Technology) course at HBTI, Kanpur (upto
a maximum of 15% seats from any one State/UTs other than UP);
(b) 15% seats (upto a maximum of 3% from any one State/UT) at the college
of Technology, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar
are reserved for candidates from North-Eastern States (Where Engineering
Institutions are not available) and States of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu
& Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, West Bengal, Delhi
and union Territories. However, no seats are available in Agricultural
Engineering course for other State candidates;
(c) Payment foreign national/NRIs and NRI sponsored Indian nationals who
possess minimum requisite qualification is made in private engineering
colleges.

Eligibility
Intermediate (10+2) with Phy, Chem Maths of UP Board or equivalent.
B Tech (Agril Engg) Intermediate with Phy, Chem, Maths/Agril. For admission
in Regional Engineering Colleges, candidates should have secured 50%
aggregate marks in PCM and should have a pass in English. Candidates
whose results are awaited may also apply. Candidates should be physically
fit as per the prescribed medical standards.
Diploma
Holders Those who have passed or appearing in 3/4 year Diploma
Course or equivalent (after passing Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent)
examination may apply for entrance test for direct admission in 2nd
year of BE/B Tech/B Arch/B Tech (Agril Engg) courses
Application
Procedure Application form and Information Brochure can be
obtained from the State funded Engineering Colleges and also from the
notified branches of Vijaya Bank on cash payment of Rs. 400 (inclusive
of examination fee). The application form can also be obtained by post
from the Coordinator, Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Admission Test
----- (UPSEAT ----), Institute of Engineering & Technology, Sitapur
Road, Lucknow 226021 on payment of Rs. 425 by Bank Draft in favour of
‘Coordinator, UPSEAT -----, IET-Lucknow’ payable at Lucknow, Completed
application should reach the notified authority by the prescribed date.
Selection
is based on merit in UPSEAT. The test is conducted in two parts
– preliminary and main examination. In Preliminary exam, there is only
on paper of 3 hours duration having objective type questions. Candidates
qualifying in the preliminary exam are required to appear in the Main
exam consisting of Phy, Chem and Maths. Candidates for B Tech (Agril
Engg) course can appear in Agril, Phy and Chem; Agril Engg & State;
Agronomy & Agril Bot. Candidates for B Arch course are required
to appear in aptitude test in architecture. Each paper is of 21/2
hours duration and carry 100 marks.
Centres 20 centres in UP and Bangalore, Bhopla, Calcutta, Chandigarh,
Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ranchi, Syllabi of each paper is given in
the information brochure.
Medium English/Hindi. Weightage is allowed to candidates from
rural areas, handicapped candidates from rural areas, handicapped candidates.
Candidates in order of merit are called for counselling for selecting
the institutions and branch of study, depending on the availability
of seats. List of candidates called for interview is notified in local
dailies/college.

COMBINED
PRE MEDICAL TEST (CPMT) for admission to MBBS/BDS/BHMS/BAMS/ and
BUMS Courses is conducted by one of the Universities in the State
(University of Roorkee conducted CPMT during 1999) in Medical Colleges.

COMMON
DETAILS
for MBBS/BDS are given hereunder:
Domicile Indian citizens and Bonafide residents of Uttar Pradesh. Exceptions
Displaced students registered in UP, Wards of employees of Govt of India
(Civil or Military), Public Sector Undertakings serving in UP, Wards
(who passed their qualifying exam from U P) of employees of Defence
Forces serving anywhere, Children of Indian national repatriated from
other countries.

Killed/disabled 2% Physically Handicapped 2%. All India Entrance/Govt

Eligibility Age 17 years on December 31 of the year of admission.
Academic qualification Intermediate/12 yrs Sr Sec (Sc) of Board of High
School and Intermediate Education, U P or equivalent with Phy, Chem
and Biol. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying exam can apply.
Candidates should be medically fit.
Application Procedure Application form and prospectus containing
information can be obtained from the Convener University or from other
Universities of U P or from notified branches or Punjab national Bank
on cash payment of Rs.400 (inclusive of exam fees). Completed application
should reach the Convener University by the notified date.
Selection
Merit in CPMT consisting two papers in Phy & Chem and Bot &
Zool, carrying 300 marks in each paper and is of 2 hours duration each.
The questions are of objective type and the standard is of Intermediate.
There is an additional paper of Hindi carrying 150 marks. However, marks
secured in this paper are not added in merit list, Centres Agra, Allahabad,
Bareilly, Dehra Dun, Faizabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut,
Nainital, Srinagar (Garhwal) and Varanasi. Candidates are required to
obtain 50% (35% for SC/ST) marks in Sc subjects and 35% marks in Hindi
to qualify the test. In case of tie, marks obtained in Chem decide the
merit. Where the marks in the Chem paper are equal, marks in the Zool
paper decide inter-se ranking. Merit list is notified in local newspapers.
Candidates are called for counselling in order of merit.
